Sharon Kane is the Director of Sub Region for Plan International overseeing South Asia and the Pacific Nations. Prior to this role, Sharon was the Country Director of Plan International Vietnam for the previous 6 years. Sharon has a strong commitment and belief in social justice, gender equality, inclusion and child rights - particularly for those from the most marginalized and disadvantaged backgrounds. Sharon has more than 20 years of experience working in both the development and humanitarian setting.

At the start of her international career, Sharon spent 8 years in Afghanistan and Pakistan working on maternal, child health and nutrition programs and child protection programs.  In 2009, she joined the International Red Cross movement, moved to Thailand and led the Final Evaluation of the 2005 Tsunami Response.  This role led to Sharon joining the Australian Red Cross Emergency Response team and she was deployed to a number of humanitarian emergencies, such as in Haiti, Libya, and Pakistan. 

In 2012, Sharon took on a senior leadership role in Laos, as Director of Program Quality for World Vision.  Sharon holds Post Graduate degrees in Health Promotion, Evaluation, and a Masters of Public Health.
