Shaila Shahid, an environmental lawyer from Dhaka, Bangladesh, serves on the advisory board for Tomorrow's Cities, the Urban Disaster Risk Hub, tackling climate and disaster risks for the urban poor. She also advances gender inclusivity in climate action as a GenderCC - Women for Climate Justice board member. Her expertise extends to her role as Senior Advisor to the Pittachhara Forest & Biodiversity Conservation Initiative and her involvement with the National Alliance for Drowning Prevention (NADP). Shaila’s career, marked by over twenty years in both technical and managerial capacities, includes a significant tenure as the former Chief Operating Officer of the Disaster Climate Change Unit at the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE). Her exemplary leadership in climate, DRR, gender, water, and environmental law and policies was recognized with the 2023 WIN DRR Leadership Award for Excellence in Asia-Pacific by the UNDRR.
