Sarah Barron

Sarah Barron is an experienced environment and sustainability professional with more than 20 years’ experience across ports, resources, and government. She is currently the Environment Manager at Mid-West Ports Authority, where she leads environmental management, sustainability strategy, and regulatory compliance at the Geraldton Port in Western Australia. 

Prior to this role, Sarah spent over 15 years with Iluka Resources, holding senior environmental leadership positions, with a strong focus on environmental compliance, land rehabilitation, closure planning, and stakeholder engagement. Earlier in her career, she worked with the Western Australian Department of Environment and Conservation, Barrick Gold and Rio Tinto, gaining broad experience across mining, ports, and regulatory environments. 

Sarah brings a practical, on-the-ground perspective to materiality and sustainability prioritization, grounded in real-world operational decision-making, risk management, and engagement with regulators and communities.
