Director, ADB Profile / Bio Mr. Sanath Ranawana is the Director of Agriculture, Food, Nature, and Rural Development Sector Office at ADB. He has over 25 years of work experience with international development organizations (ADB, World Bank, and UNEP) in agriculture, natural resources, environment, and rural development (ANRD) sectors. He holds masters’ degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Texas at Austin and an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. During his career with ADB, he has worked in various capacities at the Sri Lanka Resident, the Thailand Resident Mission, and the Viet Nam Resident Mission. He also worked at the United Nations Environment Programme for several years while on leave from ADB. His areas of specialty are environmental and natural resource economics and planning.
