Mr. Mamun, an Urban Specialist, joined BRM at ADB on December 1, 2021. He is a development professional with a mix of skills in project processing and administration, management, and technological innovation. He has a total of 20 years’ experience in development operations within the international finance institute, UN, international NGO in Bangladesh and Bhutan. His expertise includes urban infrastructure & development, water and sanitation, energy, affordable housing and climate change, and its policy interventions.
Prior to his appointment at ADB, he had been a Lead Project Officer to the AFD (Agence Française de Développement) Bangladesh Office since 1 January 2021, while he joined as Senior Project Officer in May 2016. Before AFD, he was a Program Specialist (Urban Programming) at UNICEF Bangladesh, overseeing Urban Program Management. Prior to his joining UNICEF, he worked for Practical Action, Bangladesh as Program Manager, Urban and Energy Services. He started working in the Development Sector with Prodipon (NGO) in 2002 as a Research Associate on a solid waste management project funded by the European Union.
Mr. Mamun holds a MPA in Governance & Public Policy from the University of Dhaka and a PGD in Development Planning from the National Academy for Planning and Development, Bangladesh. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Bangladesh. He was awarded with FK-Norway Young Leader Fellowship under a South-South Skills exchange program in South Asia (2011-2012) and received SIDA fellowship on Ecological alternative in sanitation (Sweden, 2008).
