
Bob Rout is an Irrigation and Water Resources Management specialist with more than 30 years of experience in developing countries, including countries in South Asia, South-East Asia, Central Asia, East Africa and Middle East. His irrigated agriculture experience includes work on community-based irrigation system development and improvement in Nepal, Bhutan, Timor-Leste, India and Afghanistan. He also has large scheme experience in design and implementation of projects in Sri Lanka (Mahaweli), Bangladesh, Iran (Alborz), Tajikistan (Muminobod), Ethiopia (Lower Genale) and Sudan (Kenna-Rahad).
Bob worked for agencies like ADB, World Bank, FAO, EC, IFAD, AFESD (Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development) and African Development Bank. His current and recent ADB assignments include preparation of investment projects for strengthening climate resilience in the irrigated agriculture sector in Bhutan (Water Flagship), Nepal (Climate Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods), Tajikistan (Enhancing Climate Resilience in the Pyanj River Basin) and Timor-Leste (Rural Infrastructure and Livelihoods Improvement).
