Dr. Rakhshinda Perveen has authored more than a dozen research papers, reports and training manuals/guides on issues of Gender Based Violence /Violence Against Women & Girls, conducted several high-level advocacy workshops, TOTs besides authoring 5 books. She is the architect of the study that started data collection on different forms VAWG in Pakistan way back in 2000; the design is still followed by a large number of academics and practitioners. Dr. Perveen is a physician turned GEDSI expert, trainer, university teacher, activist, researcher, and a bilingual (Urdu & English) journalist. Recognized as an accomplished Thoughtpreneur, trailblazer, and Social Entrepreneur, she was the first woman to anchor live current affairs morning shows on Pakistan Television Network in 1996. She also produced the award-winning TV series 'Gender Watch' (1999-2000), which pioneered gender discourse in Pakistan and introduced the Urdu term 'sinf.' She has worked extensively with marginalized communities across Pakistan and internationally in the areas of human development, RH and gender equality.
