Senior Project Associate, World Resources Institute (WRI) India Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Rajeev is a Program Manager with the Urban Development and Accessibility team at WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities. The centre founded in 2014 combines the strength of WRI’s EMBARQ network for sustainable transport with the Institute’s expertise in energy & climate, adaptation, water, and governance aspires to deliver the goal of sustainable cities. His work focusses on Transit Oriented Development projects to create safe access and better living and walking environments around transit nodes. His work includes photographic documentation, data collection, analysis, mapping, graphical representation, formulation of proposals, and final reports. Rajeev is also the project anchor for the Hubli Dharwad Transit Oriented Development Project. A key responsibility of this role is to work with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Government of Karnataka, to help develop urban development and accessibility strategies around public transport nodes at Hubli-Dharwad. He is deeply engaged with the various stakeholders of this project and is directly responsible for advancing EMBARQ India’s perspective among them. He also provides technical inputs and capacity building to DULT; and reviews the safe access and development control regulations proposals prepared by consultants. Along with this he is also developing an evaluation framework which will be used to assess safe access proposals for metro station areas in Bangalore. He has also developed new and innovative interactive exercises and modules to showcase learnings from the publication ‘Safe Access Manual: Safe Access to Mass Transit Stations in Indian Cities’. Prior to EMBARQ, Rajeev was a part of ABIDe (Agenda for Bangalore Infrastructure and Development) and worked on heritage listing and documentation of historical structures in Bengaluru city. He then worked as an architect for Shilanyas Architects for a range of projects varying from architecture and interiors to master planning. Rajeev holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from B.M.S College of Engineering, Bangalore and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
