Dr. Patrick Büker is a planning officer in the sectoral department of GIZ Germany. He has been working in the field of environmental protection and climate change mitigation for more than 25 years. His specific interests and areas of expertise include air quality management, environmental impact assessments, mitigation of greenhouse gases – including short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) – and Just Transition concepts. He has worked extensively on these topics in developing countries and emerging economies. Currently, he is overseeing GIZ’s air pollution and SLCP portfolio, with a strong focus on Southeast Asia. Before joining the GIZ in 2018, he worked for 15 years as a senior researcher for the Stockholm Environment Institute at its office at the University of York.
