Profile / Bio

Dr. Patrick Almeida has been working in the field of migration health for the past 8 years in a range of humanitarian and development settings. He is currently serving as the Regional Thematic Specialist for Migration Health with the International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, based in Bangkok. In this capacity, he provides support and advice to IOM Country Missions, governments and local, regional and global partners to promote the migration health agenda across the Asia Pacific. 

Dr. Almeida completed medical school in the Philippines and undertaken post graduate residency in Preventive Medicine in the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, where he also completed his Master of Public Health. Dr. Almeida has worked on migrant health programming in Myanmar for the last 8 years including development of migration health policies. Previously, Dr. Almeida had worked with Medecins sans Frontieres for 16 years in numerous countries particularly in humanitarian settings in Myanmar, India, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Moldova, Jordan, South Sudan, and Bangladesh on a range of health programming.
