General Manager and Senior Advisor, BASE-Bahay Foundation Profile / Bio Profile / Bio He is a former General Manager of BASE-Bahay Foundation Inc. and currently a Senior Advisor. He also holds a Professorial chair at PUP, a state university in the Philippines. Pablo Jorillo Jr finished his Doctorate Degree in Engineering from Nihon University, College of Oceanic Architecture and Engineering (Tokyo, Japan). He was appointed a full Professor at the university in 1990 and had exchange professorial assignments in Thailand and Japan. He has worked on various research projects with different international teams on underwater concrete, fiber concrete, alternative cementitious materials, and structural composites. Many of the technical papers are presented in various publications and refereed journals in RILEM, ICC, ACI, ASEP, etc. In 2000, he joined Hilti Philippines Inc. and became the first local General Manager, leading a local executive management team, a first for Hilti in Region Asia at the time. In 2020, he joined the Hilti Foundation-initiated organization in the Philippines—BASE-Bahay Foundation—as the General Manager and currently holds a Senior Advisor position at the Foundation. BASE is a non-profit, non-government organization with a mandate to build communities using alternative building technologies with a network of partners and provide comfortable, affordable, resilient, eco-friendly houses with social impact. The vision is to scale up partnerships and the adaptation of bamboo and other green building materials for socialized housing.
