Ms. Mousumi is the Senior Climate Change Officer of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Bangladesh. Prior to joining ADB, Mousumi spent more than 10 years with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) where she worked on mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation into national policy documents, capacity building support for public sectors planning professionals, institutionalizing climate change and disaster risk reduction and enhancing capacity of Local Government Institutes for pro-poor planning for climate vulnerable people for livelihoods improvement. A comprehensive vulnerability targeting strategy to inform pro-poor planning for Social-safety net allocation for the urban poor has been a key milestone of her recent work.
She is specialized in Programme Management and Capacity Building and has been in the development sector for more than 21 years with various international and multilateral organizations offering top-quality program implementation, advisory and capacity-building services. She is experienced in program design, implementation and supervision by following the due diligence of the technical, financial, procurement, institutional, economic, social and environmental aspects. She has a solid understanding of development issues, including climate change adaptation, women's economic empowerment, climate-resilient livelihoods, violence against women and girls, climate mainstreaming and disaster risk reduction. She has familiarity with the global and national policy landscape related to climate change and disaster risk reduction in particular United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) process, the Sendai Framework 2015-2030 and its associated funding windows. She has co-authored several research studies, and book chapters and regularly writes on contemporary development issues.
