Senior Transport Specialist, ADB Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Mohammad Nazrul Islam, an American national, holds a B. Sc Engineering in Civil from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), and a degree in road engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK. He has over 25 years of professional experience, including approximately 20 years at the ADB. He joined ADB in May 2005 and started working in transport sector development projects in Bangladesh. He joined ADB’s Southeast Asia Transport Division in October 2018 as a Transport Specialist. He transferred to the Bangladesh Resident Mission (BRM) in October 2024 as Senior Transport Specialist (Sector focal) for planning and implementing transport sector projects in Bangladesh. At the Transport Sector Office, he has served as a project team leader in Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Indonesia, overseeing regional roads and railway projects with large-value civil works contracts. He has been also responsible as Transport Focal for Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) road and railway connectivity among 6 GMS countries. Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Nazrul worked at an international consulting firm, where he served as a highway design engineer.
