Mike has more than 30 years’ experience in wildlife conservation and a good understanding of environmental and development issues in Asia. He coordinates the BirdLife Asia Partnership’s programme on Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, which works for the conservation of the most important sites for birds, and is the Key Biodiversity Areas Regional Focal Point for Asia. He also helps to support BirdLife’s regional programmes on Globally Threatened Species and Migratory Birds and Flyways.
Mike is a co-author of several key publications on bird and biodiversity conservation in Asia, including Threatened Birds of Asia: the BirdLife International Red Data Book, Important Bird Areas in Asia: key sites for conservation and national IBA directories for China and the Philippines, as well as BirdLife’s global analysis of Endemic Bird Areas of the World.
