, Institute of Developing Economies, Japan External Trade Organization Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Masami Ishida is the Director-General of Development Studies Center, IDE-JETRO. His research covers the Greater Mekong Sub-region, especially CLMV countries. Dr. Ishida has published several prolific publications about the region and countries in English and Japanese, including a book from Palgrave Macmillan, “Border Economies in the Greater Mekong Subregion” (2013, ed.). Before joining IDE-JETRO in 1993, he worked for research and consulting companies in Japan and then the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia. At IDE-JETRO, he also stationed in Jakarta and Bangkok. Dr. Ishida received Doctor of Economics from University of Indonesia in 2003.
