Profile / Bio:

I am the London Water Leader at the international engineering and technical consultancy Arup. I bring design and advisory water expertise to projects across Building Engineering and Infrastructure.

I lead on the City Water Resilience Approach (CWRA) which supports design and helps prioritise interventions to enhance urban water resilience in cities from Miami to Addis Ababa and from Cape Town to Hull.

I am proud to be involved in humanitarian projects and lead Arup’s work to reduce the disease cycle in emergency relief situations working in collaboration with the British Red Cross and the London School of Medicine and Tropical Hygiene. This work involves the co-design of appropriate handwashing facilities for use in various situations.

My expertise includes water supply, sanitation, sewerage, water conservation and efficiency, water quality, water treatment, wastewater engineering, and infrastructure services. This has included a focus on sustainable development particularly related to minimising water use and the carbon associated with its use. I am keen to help transform new engineering principles into practice, inputting into technical standards for water. I have undertaken research and consultancy for many UK government departments, including the Ministry of Housing of Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), The Water Industry Commission for Scotland, and the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI).
