Profile / Bio: 

Mark Kunzer is the Director, Private Sector Transaction Support Division in the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) based in Manila, the Philippines. He has been with ADB for over 13 years. His current responsibilities include managing a team of approximately 18 investment professionals, responsible for providing support to origination divisions in areas of safeguards, development effectiveness, integrity due diligence, and technical assistance. Prior to his current assignment, he was Principal Environment Specialist in Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department (SDCC), which provides safeguards oversight and advice to project teams in resolving complex safeguards issues.

Prior to joining ADB, he was a Principal Environmental Scientist in Parsons Brinckerhoff Pty. Ltd, Australia, where he led multidisciplinary technical project teams working on environmental and social impact assessments and environmental auditing. Mr. Kunzer is an environmental safeguards expert. His operations experience in infrastructure from an environmental management perspective, and his ability to deal with sensitive and contentious business and safeguards issues are well suited for the Director, PSTS role.

Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Kunzer had more than 25 years of professional experience including more than 13 years with ADB. He has a Master's degree in Environmental Pollution and Control from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor's degree in Cell and Immunobiology from the University of Wales Aberystwyth, United Kingdom.
