Marieke is the Regional Manager for Asia and East Africa at World Waternet, a foundation linked to Waternet, the water company in Amsterdam and surrounding areas in the Netherlands. Marieke has over 15 years of experience in sustainability issues, including integrated water resource management.
Her passion is contributing to international water projects, especially the challenge to combine environmental and economic interests in fast-developing Eastern European countries. She has worked on improving water management in the Danube basin for the European Commission, following her time implementing various water projects in Japan and Sri Lanka.
Currently, her focus is on resolving water and sanitation issues in developing countries and sharing relevant knowledge and expertise of Waternet experts to deliver suitable and sustainable solutions.
