Secretary, Department of Education, Philippines Profile / Bio Secretary Sonny Angara has served more than two decades in public service—nine years as a congressman representing the Province of Aurora and eleven years as a senator. Education has always been close to his heart. As a legislator, he has authored more than 300 laws, many of which have advanced the educational system in the Philippines. These include free kindergarten, free college education, the Anti-Bullying Act, the Ladderized Education Act, the Student Fare Discount Act, the Second Congressional Commission on Education, and many others.
