Joseph Simms was selected as the Assistant Attaché for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Hong Kong in August 2019. As the Assistant Attaché, he provides investigative and programmatic support for HSI’s mission in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Simms was a Special Agent in the Public Safety division at HSI Baltimore, MD for seven years focusing primarily on the investigation and prosecution of violent transnational gangs in and around Baltimore, MD. Mr. Simms began his career in 2007 as a Special Agent assigned to the HSI Los Angeles field office where he investigated financial crimes related to asset forfeiture, narcotics, immigration fraud and money laundering. He graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN in 1996 with a B.A. in English and holds a law degree from Rutgers University School of Law attained in 2004.
