As lead for IRRI’s Sustainable Impact Platform, Jonathan has almost 30 years’ real-world understanding and experience in agricultural research-for-development from Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. His expertise includes farmers’ access to markets within globalized food systems, soil and water conservation, agroforestry, climate change adaptation and mitigation, and the fostering of agricultural innovation systems.

For the past 13 years, Jonathan has been working with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT) to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty through global research in maize and wheat-based farming systems. He is an expert in value chains, post-harvest storage, market access, climate change adaptation, and research in global market trajectories. His background in the CGIAR system, paired with his research expertise and leadership, will be a significant contribution to the Sustainable Impact Platform as it moves towards its strategic goals.
