Dr. Jane Toothill holds a BSc and Ph.D. in natural hazard studies and has over 20 years of experience in the modelling of flood hazards to assess financial losses and to support the development of financial mechanisms, particularly in the insurance sector. Jane is JBA’s Director for its specialty insurance and reinsurance business, which has developed global flood models, cat models, and financial loss models, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, and Viet Nam.  She has led the development of a wide range of analytics, models, and software systems designed to evaluate the costs of flooding under different flood resilience, vulnerability, and climate scenarios. Jane has recently led a recent project for the World Bank investigating available data and approaches for formulating disaster risk financing mechanisms in Asia.
