Head and Senior Lecturer, University of Sri Jayewardenepura Profile / Bio Janaka Fernando is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Business Economics, and Director of the Postgraduate Centre for Business Studies, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He holds a PhD in International Development from Nagoya University, Japan, a Master’s in International Development Studies from GRIPS, Japan, a Master’s in Economics from the University of Colombo, and a BSc in Business Administration (Business Economics) (Special) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. His research and consultancy work focus on migration, MSME development, market research, impact assessment, and policy analysis. He has been awarded the prestigious Australian Award Fellowship twice, in 2016 at Griffith University and in 2024 at Monash University, for specialized training. With expertise in econometrics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and project management, he actively integrates participatory planning into higher education while contributing to evidence-based policy and sustainable development.
