Dr. James Sutherland is a Technical Director and the Team Leader for the Coastal and Seabed Processes teams within the Coasts and Oceans group. He is an internationally known specialist in coastal and marine processes with 30 years of postdoctoral experience. His areas of expertise include sediment transport, scour around structures, coastal erosion, and beach management. He has worked on projects in over 20 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Americas.
During the past twenty-six years at HR Wallingford, James has successfully managed and delivered many projects ranging from small desk assessments through physical model studies to large international research and consultancy projects.
