James Nelson is Chief Executive Officer of Dirio Gas & Power Company, Papua New Guinea’s first 100% nationally owned independent power producer, and part of the MRDC group of companies. Prior to Dirio, James worked for KPMG Australia in their corporate finance team, predominantly advising companies on the commercial development of power projects. And has also worked for PwC in the Middle East and Australia advising on a range of infrastructure developments.
In addition to his professional career, James is pursuing his PhD and has published peer-reviewed papers in energy economics in well-regarded international journals such as Energy Policy and The Electricity Journal, exploring themes relating to wholesale electricity market design, financing electricity investments, and a range of energy policy topics.
