Ioannis Fourniadis

Yannis Fourniadis (PhD) is a disaster risk consultant with 17 years of experience in identifying and mitigating geophysical and climate risks for infrastructure and building projects worldwide. A geotechnical engineer by training, he has experience in the area of climate and disaster risk information for resilient investments, including through:

• Leading studies to mitigate the risk posed by disasters triggered by natural hazards on housing, transport and flood protection infrastructure in Central Asia
• Enhancing the capacity of ADB’s DMCs to use climate and disaster risk information to make risk-informed decisions for resilient investments in housing, transport and food security
• Developing a climate and disaster risk screening and assessment tool which will support adaptation decision and disaster-risk resilient investments across Asia-Pacific
