Hasyimah Afandi

Executive Director for Asia Pacific, GPM Global
Profile / Bio

Hasyimah brings more than 15 years in engineering, energy, and organizational leadership, built on six continents. Since 2018 she has served as Director of Asia-Pacific for GPM Global, working with companies, government agencies, universities, and industry partners throughout the region and with international clients operating into it. Most of her clients are organizations that have already made sustainability commitments and need to show results against them. That work has taken her into operating environments with very different regulatory regimes, reporting requirements, and capacity levels, which is where a standard either holds up or does not.

She leads the sustainability teams that assess and rate organizations against GPM's maturity model, and she leads the transformation work that follows the rating. That means she sees an organization at the point where its stated commitments meet its evidence, and stays with it through the changes the assessment calls for. In 2015 she was in the first Asia-Pacific cohort to earn GPM-b, the credential now issued as the Certified Sustainable Project Professional (CSPP™). She works at the standard level as well as in application, contributing to the P5 Standard, the PRiSM method, and the assessment architecture behind CSPP. When a client disputes whether a sustainability requirement can be measured or governed, she can resolve it from the standard itself rather than by opinion.

Before GPM, Hasyimah worked as a field engineer with Schlumberger, a role that put her on assignment internationally early in her career. She ran well services operations in oil and gas exploration. The operating conditions were unforgiving. Windows were fixed, delays were expensive, and the engineer on site made the call with whatever data was in hand.

She holds an MBA and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Petroleum Engineering. She is based in Detroit, Michigan, and works across Asia-Pacific and internationally.
