Environmental Director, Alabama Port Authority Profile / Bio Gretchen Barrera joined the Alabama Port Authority in 2015. As Vice President of Environmental Services, she provides oversight of environmental planning, permitting, land remediation, Geographic Information Systems functions, and the port’s certification in Green Marine. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Coastal Foundation and Southeastern Team Reducing the Impacts of Diesel Emissions Collaborative, and has had a leadership role for the American Association of Port Authorities Environment Committee. Gretchen is a licensed professional engineer in Alabama with over 20 years of experience. Gretchen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Houston.
