Gilberto Llanto was formerly the President of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), and currently is a member of PIDS' Board of Trustees. He previously served as the Deputy Director-General of the National Economic and Development Authority, Vice-President of PIDS, and Executive Director (with the rank of Assistant Secretary/Assistant Minister) of the Agricultural Credit Policy Council. He was also formerly President of the Philippine Economic Society, Associate Editor of the Philippine Journal of Development, and member of the Governing Board of the Agricultural Guarantee Fund Pool. His research interests include local finance, public finance, infrastructure, regional integration, and growth economics. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the School of Economics at the University of the Philippines.
