Dileni N. B. Gunewardena is Professor of Economics at the University of Peradeniya with over 30 years of experience in development-oriented research and teaching in Sri Lanka and internationally. Her work combines rigorous econometric analysis with a strong gender inequality perspective, focusing on poverty, inequality, labour markets, human development, education, and the care economy. She brings deep local knowledge and networks together with extensive international experience through fellowships at American University, Brookings Institution, University of California–Riverside, and the University of Warwick. She has secured competitive research funding from leading global foundations and networks, and is committed to translating research into policy impact and improving women’s lives in South Asia.
