Profile / Bio

Deepa works with Asian Development Bank as Social Development Specialist (Gender) and is based in India Resident Mission, New Delhi. In this role she guides ADB’s gender equality work in India and closely works with country sector teams on gender equality, women’s empowerment and inclusion. As One ADB Team member she supports gender mainstreaming in project design; guide teams in project implementation; and monitoring of gender results in India operations.

She has over 25 years of work experience in development sector designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projects and programs in areas such as transport, energy, urban and water, education, and skills development.

Her areas of specialization include gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, feminization of poverty and gender budgeting. Prior to ADB, she has worked with the Government of India, International Organizations, Private sector as well as with Grassroot level organizations.

Shehas an M Phil and Ph. D in social sciences from the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
