Mr. Wiedmer is a finance professional with 20 years of climate finance experience in emerging Asian and African markets. As Director of the Private Sector Infrastructure Division 2, he leads ADB's infrastructure finance team responsible for Southeast Asia, East Asia, and the Pacific Islands. His core competencies include managing corporate and project finance transactions in renewable energy, electric mobility, circular economy recycling, conventional power, waste-to-energy, telecom, and water treatment, and donor-funded blended finance and technical assistance programs.
In his previous role as the Unit Head for the Greater Mekong Region, Mr. Wiedmer established ADB's private sector regional hub office in Bangkok. He built and led a team to sign over 40 transactions, including innovative projects such as ADB's first MRT rail transaction, the first integrated renewables and battery energy storage project, the first Blue Loan for recycling, the first C&I rooftop financing, and the first cross-border wind power project in Asia. His first role at ADB was to finance debt and equity in financial institutions and invest in private equity funds.
Before joining ADB in 2004, Mr. Wiedmer worked for SECO, Switzerland, where he invested in African financial institutions and funds. Prior to his tenure at SECO, he was employed by AXA Group. He holds a Master of Science in Development Management from the London School of Economics and an MBA with Distinction from Kent Business School. Additionally, he is a CFA Charterholder and a fluent English, German, and French speaker.
