Daniel Twigt

Daniel Twigt is an expert in the field of flood early warning. He has over 10+ years of experience in developing flood early warning systems around the world. He has led, among others, the continued development of the national flood early warning systems of the Netherlands, and has extensive experience with urban flood forecasting and early warning in Singapore. Daniel also coordinates Deltares' research program on flood early warning, from which new and innovative tools and concepts for flood hazard and impact based early warning are developed. This includes diverse topics, such as flood forecasting on a global scale as well as the application of IoT technologies in flood early warning. He also has extensive hands-on experience with the flood forecasting and early warning process, being a flood forecaster at the Water Management Centre of the Netherlands. This hands-on experience is an inspiration and a motivation to continuously explore possibilities to increase the effectiveness of flood early warning using new technologies.
