Regional Advisor, Medicines for Malaria Venture Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Dr. Caroline Lynch is a regional advisor for Medicines for Malaria Venture for the Asia Paciic region. She is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. In her current position, Dr. Lynch works on all aspects of access from regulatory approval, evidence into policy, policy change processes and quality implementation to contribute to improving the coverage of vivax malaria radical cure. Dr. Lynch is also co-chair for the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network Vivax Working Group (APMEN VxWG). She is on the Independent Evaluation Panel for the Global Fund for Aids, TB and Malaria and holds an honorary fellowship from Menzies University. Before her current position, Dr. Lynch was co-Principal Investigator (PI) for LINK - data for malaria decision-making at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). The aim of LINK was to strengthen data for decision-making for National Malaria Programs in 13 high malaria burden countries. She was also director and co-PI for the maternal healthcare markets evaluation team, which was tasked with evaluating the “MSD for Mothers” initiative - private sector interventions aimed at improving delivery care and access to family planning. Dr. Lynch trained as a parasitologist and epidemiologist, and researches the political economy of decision-making and the health systems contexts within which malaria control and elimination activities take place. Before LSHTM, she lived and worked in Liberia, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Burundi. She has also worked as a consultant providing high-level technical advice for several organizations, including UNICEF, AusAID (DfAT), Department for International Development (DfiD), UNDP, WHO, Roll Back Malaria, and the Malaria Consortium, and the German government in the African and Asia Pacific regions.
