Batbayar Ankhbayar

Batbayar is a Health Economist and Financial Analyst with over 13 years of experience in health systems and health financing. His work has focused on costing of health services, improving provider payment mechanisms, digitalization of payment systems, strengthening financial control and oversight, and conducting data-driven analyses.

He has played a key role in supporting Mongolia’s transition to strategic purchasing by leading preparatory work, designing models, conducting research, and developing and implementing policy instruments. In 2020, he was centrally involved in the country’s reform to introduce a strategic purchaser model and continues to contribute actively to its implementation.

He currently serves as a health financing and strategic purchasing consultant to the Ministry of Health and the General Authority for Health Insurance of Mongolia.
