Action Area Air Lead, ICIMOD Profile / Bio Ashish Tiwari, a senior member of the Indian Forest Service with over 30 years of experience, has led major environmental and climate governance initiatives as Secretary (Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Uttar Pradesh) and Member Secretary of multiple state authorities. An alumnus of IIT Delhi and Forest Research Institute, he is recognised for pioneering work in air quality management, circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and technology-driven environmental compliance. His contributions have earned him honours including the WWF-PATA Bagh Mitra Award and commendations from the Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Currently, Mr. Tiwari leads the Air Quality programme at ICIMOD, focusing on national Air Quality Management strategies and regional cooperation across the Indo-Gangetic Plains and Himalayan foothills.
