Profile / Bio

Mr. Khokhar is a Pakistan national with a master’s degree in development economics. He holds an in-depth knowledge of E&S framework and standards and thrives to ensure social sustainability and inclusion by applying these standards across multi-sector development projects. Currently, Mr. Khokhar works for Asian Development Bank (based in Pakistan) as a Principal Safeguard Officer where he leads and supports management of E&S plans (e.g. ESMF, ESMS, ESDD, SIA, ESIA, ESCP, ESCAP and LAP, LURP, etc.) through screening, scoping, assessing, mitigating/managing and monitoring E&S risks and impacts of projects. He supports project executing and implementing agencies in setting up E&S institutions and integration of E&S policies and standards in their business operations. He joined numerous national and international E&S capacity building and training programs in different capacities and contributes to the preparation and delivery of customized E&S modules and case studies including but not limited to involuntary land acquisition and land use restrictions, valuation and differential management, social risks and impact assessment, project readiness, stakeholders engagement, labor and working conditions; health, safety and security; and grievance redress systems.

Prior to this role in ADB since 2007, Mr. Khokhar worked on projects funded by USAID, ADB, World Bank and other IFIs in different capacities where he was involved in preparation and implementation RAP, LARP, LARF, GR Systems and national, provincial and organizational level resettlement policies and procedures in Pakistan.
