Environmental Specialist, World Bank Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Anuja Shukla is an Environmental Specialist at the World Bank with over 16 years of experience working with governments, donors, and diverse stakeholders on sustainable development in environmentally complex geographies. Her expertise spans integrated coastal zone management, eco-tourism and environmentally sensitive planning, environmental and social impact assessments, regulatory reforms, and institutional strengthening. She has extensive field experience in environmental safeguards and natural resource management, with a strong focus on blue economy and coastal resilience in South Asia. Anuja has supported governments in implementing eco-sensitive regulations, tourism development, skill-building and livelihood initiatives for vulnerable communities, and PPP-based projects. She has also provided regulatory training to government departments and academic institutions. A trained Architect and Environment Planner, Anuja is part of the World Bank’s South Asia team on coastal resilience and blue economy. She co-led the Ocean Accounts for India study with the Ministry of Earth Sciences and contributes to World Bank lending programs on coastal zone management in India and Maldives.
