Deputy Director General, Ministry of Health, Maldives Profile / Bio Aminath Shaina Abdullah is the Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Health, Maldives, where she oversees health policy implementation, international collaboration, and donor coordination. With over 15 years of experience in public health administration, she has played a key role in formulating and monitoring national health policies and strategic plans aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery across the country, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach island communities. Her leadership has been instrumental in shaping national health strategies, fostering partnerships with international agencies and donors, and aligning the Maldives’ health sector priorities with global health agendas. She has also contributed to the development of key sectoral policies, coordinated the implementation of health system reforms, and represented the Maldives in various regional and international health forums. Ms. Abdullah holds a Master’s degree in Health Management, Planning and Policy from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, as a Chevening Scholar, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Pune, India, as an ICCR Scholar. In addition to her professional roles, she has served as Chairperson of Special Olympics Maldives. A former national athlete, she has represented the Maldives in handball, netball, and basketball at both regional and international levels. Her work reflects a deep commitment to inclusive development, health equity, and strengthening governance within the health sector.
