Alibek Abdrakhmanov

Alibek Abdrakhmanov is the Country Operations Head at the ADB since 16 September 2024 based in Astana. 
He joined ADB in September 2019 at the Private Sector Operations Department working on non-sovereign infrastructure projects in Central Asia.

His most recent projects while at PSOD involve long term loans for modernization of Almaty Power Plant 2 and upgrade of transmission line in the south Kazakhstan implemented by KEGOC. In his role as Country Operations Head, Alibek leads ADB country programming and portfolio management in Kazakhstan in close coordination with sector groups and PSOD.

Prior to joining ADB, Alibek worked at the EBRD, EDB and IFC at various positions. He has extensive experience in project finance and corporate lending to clients in various sectors (power energy, agribusiness, chemical industry, transport,) with regional focus on Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan).
