Alessandro obtained his Ph.D. from Imperial College London in 2010 and since 2014 he has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), and as Cluster Director on Multi-Energy Systems and Grids (Thermal Energy Systems) at the Energy Research Institute @ Nanyang Technological University (ERI@N). During his time at NTU/ERI@N, Alessandro expanded and established the Thermal Energy Systems Lab which focusses on industrial energy efficiency, power generation - from large scale to distributed energy generation applied to micro-grids, and energy systems integration for different energy mix - including renewables and energy storage. Particular focus is being put on Liquefied Natural Gas storage and supply, including studies on the Cold-Economy for developed and developing countries.

Alessandro’s activity is mainly focussed towards serving the industry by providing advice and viable solutions for some of their most pressing challenges, such as reducing carbon footprint, energy efficiency, and energy prosumption.
