Aleksandr Arakelyan, PhD, is a Disaster Risk Management Officer at the Asian Development Bank with over 17 years of experience in hydrology, GIS, DRM, and climate risk across Armenia and Central Asia. His work has focused on flood and drought risk assessments, dam break analysis, climate risk and vulnerability assessments, and integrating ecosystem‑based and nature‑based solutions into DRM and infrastructure planning. Dr. Arakelyan has led and supported projects funded by ADB, World Bank, UNDP, GIZ, and the EU, combining advanced GIS, hydrological modeling, and policy advisory to strengthen disaster preparedness, climate resilience, and integrated water resources management.
