Senior Skills and Employability Specialist, International Labour Organization Profile / Bio Dr. Akiko Sakamoto is Senior Skills and Employability Specialist at the International Labour Organization (ILO) for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and is based in Bangkok, Thailand. She has been working in the field of skills development and technical vocational education and training (TVET) for over 20 years. She has undertaken policy advisory, project formulation, and project implementation work, covering a wide range of skills-related issues at the national and regional (ASEAN) levels. These include policy formulation and system reform on skills development and TVET; identification of future skills needs; public private partnerships in skills development; skills for green transformation; and skills mobility in ASEAN. She holds a PhD in education with a focus on workforce skills development from the University of London, UK. Her publications include Skills and the Future of Work: Strategies for Inclusive Growth in Asia and the Pacific, as co-editor.
