Lead Just Transition, Minerals and Mining Energy Program, GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) Indonesia and ASEAN Profile / Bio With over 20 years of experience in sustainable development, Ade has worked with various non-profit organizations on natural resource management and good governance, including serving as a long-term consultant at the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR). He first joined the German development cooperation (then GTZ) in 2006 as a provincial coordinator for the good-local-governance program. After completing a master’s in public administration at the Australian National University, Ade worked with The Asia Foundation as a program officer for sustainable land use before returning to the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) in 2013. Since then, he has focused on climate governance, green economy, and energy transition. Since 2024, he has led the “Just Transition, Minerals, and Mining topic at the GIZ Energy Program Indonesia and ASEAN, managing several projects, including the Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition (IKI-JET) in partnership with Bappenas and initiatives in two coal regions (East Kalimantan and South Sumatra) to develop inclusive economic transformation strategies. This includes works related to conceptualization of ideas around repurposing ex-coal mine lands for sustainable economic activities as part of just transition in coal regions.
