Social Development Issues in the Urban Sector
Urban poverty has four major dimensions that reinforce each other. These are income and social poverty, environmental poverty, education poverty, and health poverty. These dimensions encompass issues such as employment insecurity, lack of access to opportunities and basic services, hazardous environments and slum settlements, congestion, and exposure to crime and violence. An inclusive urban development approach can effectively address these risks and issues. This presentation shares concrete examples of how an inclusive approach in urban projects has improved the lives of their target beneficiaries.
