ADB Water Professionals on Water Utility Operation and Management
Implementing ADB's Water Operational Plan 2011–2020 calls for ADB water professionals, especially those working in urban settings, to be fully aware and up-to-date on good utility practices, current technology, and good governance. A training needs analysis conducted by ADB Water Community of Practice in 2013 indicated those working in the urban water sector considered they needed skills updating and access to Western and Asian practices that may be adaptable and/or replicable in developing utilities in ADB developing member countries.
ADB staff, through the learning event, conducted a site visit on a water utility based in Melbourne, Australia, that provided a Western perspective. The event is similar to the one-week utility visit and education program in Malaysia organized the previous year (November 2013) for seven ADB staff, which provided an Asian perspective.
