Zheng Haixia is a professor at the Agricultural Information Institute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), and a researcher at the Centre for International Agricultural Research (CIAR), CAAS. She is also senior advisor to the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IRPCC).

Dr. Zheng Haixia is a young expert in innovative engineering project, CAAS. The Chinese Association of Environmental Sciences conferred her with the award for Excellent Environment Researchers. She was recognized as one of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission’s top-notch innovative talents.

She was a visiting researcher at the School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (September 2011–August 2012). She obtained her PhD from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2004. She was a postdoctoral research fellow in CAAS from 2004 to 2006.

She has more than 10 years of experience in environmental and resource economics, with special emphasis on ecological compensation, environmental evaluation, and environment and poverty reduction. She led more than ten projects from the National Nature Science Foundation of China, Beijing Nature Science Foundation, World Bank, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Education, Beijing Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, and so on. She has published more than 30 journal articles with SSCI, EI, and ISTP, and published three books.
