The Social Protection Indicator
Measuring social protection enables us to monitor and evaluate the extent and effectiveness of social protection programs. Moreover, it contributes to the formulation of new policies and programs. The Social Protection Indicator (SPI) is an effective tool in this regard as it measures the amount the government spends for social protection, the depth or size of its benefits, as well as its coverage. It also shows what benefits go to the poor and non-poor, and to males or fermales.
