Core Labor Standards: Managing Supply Chain Child and Forced Labor Risks

28 October 2021

15:00 - 15:45, Manila time

You are invited to join the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and its Trade and Supply Chain Finance Program (TSCFP) as it launches a new initiative urging action on managing potential child and forced labor risks in supply chains. Global estimates from the International Labor Organization (ILO) indicate that 160 million children between 5-17 years old were engaged in child labor in 2021. According to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, there are more people enslaved now than in any time in history. In ADB's Social Protection Strategy, we commit to taking the necessary and appropriate steps to ensure that ADB-financed goods and services comply with country-level labor legislation as well as with the ILO's Core Labor Standards.

This webinar is an opportunity for TSCFP’s partner banks to come together to learn more about ADB's commitment to implementing the ILO’s labor standards and explain why this is now a key focus for the TSCFP. The webinar will also outline the TSCFP's intention to work with all Partner Banks from 2023 to review current approaches to managing potential child and forced labor risks in trade and supply chain finance products
