ADBI Featured Speaker Webinar: Yuqing Xing on Global Value Chains and Export Performance in the People’s Republic of China

This webinar featured Yuqing Xing of the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo, who discussed the key findings of his new book Decoding China’s Export Miracle: A Global Value Chain Analysis. He explained the implications of global value chains (GVCs) for export performance and the development of the high-technology sector in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). He also discussed GVC spillover effects from brands, technology, and product innovation, and the role of integrated distribution and retail networks.

 About the Speaker

Yuqing Xing is Professor of Economics at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies. Previously, he served as Director of the Capacity Building and Training Department of ADBI. He has also held positions at the World Institute for Development Economics Research, the Bank of Finland, and the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore.
